Alpha and Omega

Alpha and Omega. Awal dan akhir. Ungkapan kuno itu kini diwakili oleh sosok Kate (Hayden Panettiere) dan Humphrey (Justin Long) yang memang bertolak belakang hampir dalam segala hal. Karena keadaan juga Kate dan Humphrey harus menyisihkan perbedaan yang ada ini untuk mencapai tujuan yang jauh lebih penting: selamat sampai di rumah.

Kate adalah seekor serigala yang selalu memegang teguh tanggung jawab dan disiplin dalam segala hal. Kate tahu kalau hidup di alam bebas penuh dengan tantangan dan Kate tak mau berbuat ceroboh yang nantinya bakal mencelakakan dirinya sendiri atau serigala lain dalam kelompoknya. Berbeda dengan Kate, Humphrey adalah seekor serigala yang hanya hidup untuk bersenang-senang.

Suatu ketika, Kate dan Humphrey ditangkap oleh seorang pemburu dan dikirim ke tempat yang sangat jauh dari tempat asal mereka. Berkat kecerdikan Kate, keduanya dapat meloloskan diri dari kandang namun masalah tidak berakhir di sana. Kate dan Humphrey harus mencari jalan untuk pulang kembali ke tempat asal mereka. Dalam perjalanan panjang ini mau tak mau segala perbedaan harus disisihkan untuk tujuan yang lebih penting ini.

The Day After Tomorrow

Apa jadinya bila bumi yang selama ini kita pijak tiba-tiba amblas dan hilang tertelan air laut? Mulai dari rumor sampai data-data ilmiah serta sejarah, tersebar bahwa suatu saat bumi akan hancur. Dan konon kabarnya semua itu akan terjadi tahun 2012. Benarkah? Mengambil kesempatan dengan adanya berita ini, Colombia Pictures memproduksi sebuah film yang cukup mengundang rasa penasaran. 2012, Film  yang sudah dinanti-nanti kehadirannya di tanah air.

Berawal dari temuan ilmuwan India Dr. Satnam Tsurutani (Jimi Mistry) yang mengetahui bahwa inti dari kulit bumi mengalami kenaikan suhu karena efek yang diakibatkan oleh matahari. Akibatnya, lempeng bumi yang selama ini menopang daratan di bumi patah dan mengakibatkan gempa bumi yang sangat dahsyat. Atas dasar inilah Adrian Helmsley (Chiwetel Ejiofor) membuat laporan ke gedung putih bahwa kiamat akan tiba. Dari sinilah proyek besar terinspirasi dari Nabi Nuh dibuat.

Menonton 2012 bisa membuat kita terpana, selain karena adegan scene per-scene yang sangat menegangkan, di film ini juga kita bisa melihat efek yang luar biasa dalam pendeskripsian sebuah bencana. Salah satu adegan yang sangat menegangkan adalah ketika bumi yang biasa kita pijak sehari-hari tiba-tiba amblas kedalam tanah dan hilang ditelan air laut yang datang tanpa mengetuk. Selain itu ada gedung-gedung tinggi yang kokoh roboh dalam hitungan detik layaknya rumah pasir  pantai yang diterjang air laut. Bisa dibayangkan jika ini sungguh terjadi, mau kemana Anda berlari?

Ada juga efek yang sangat luar biasa bagus adalah ketika kapal induk Amerika USS John F Kennedy yang hanyut terbawa tingginya tsunami dan menimpa Gedung Putih yang merupakan simbol kedigdayaan Amerika Serikat. Selain itu ada juga yang bisa membuat kita menahan napas, ketika Tsunami yang tingginya mencapai 1500 meter datang menembus tingginya pegunungan Himalaya. Kendati film ini tak bertabur bintang kelas 1, namun canggihnya spesial efek serta konsep dari 2012 itu sendiri membuat saya melupakan pentingnya artis terkenal dalam film ataupun sisipan kisah cinta klasik didalamnya.

2012 sendiri di sutradarai oleh Roland Emrich yang sudah sering membesut film dengan tema-tema datangnya hari kiamat. Indepence Day (1996) dan The Day After Tomorrow (2004) merupakan buah karya sutradara kelahiran Jerman ini. Bagi anda yang suka nonton, wajib untuk menonton film yang satu ini, selain menampilkan efek suara dan gambar yang canggih, film ini juga bisa membuat kita enggan bangun dari kursi empuk yang kita duduki. Bagi saya pribadi, film ini bagaikan cerminan bahwa semua yang kita miliki saat ini hanyalah sementara dan sifatnya duniawi.

WALL - E

In a distant, but not so unrealistic future, where mankind has abandoned earth because it has become covered with trash from products sold by the powerful multi-national Buy N Large corporation, WALL-E, a garbage collecting robot has been left to clean up the mess.
